i had my roomie tell me to put a warm washcloth on my wrist tattoo, i was just wondering if anyone else has heard of this and its safe or if i should just leave it alone. I'ts been 5 days since i got the new tat and it still has the scabs on it.

Thanks.

When you got the tattoo i am sure they gave you care instructions. Don't deviate from them. Every artist has a little bit different way that they want you to take care of it, and that is understandable.
Just don't take friends advice... stick to what your artist told you, and if you aren't sure call the shop and ask them.
It has been my experience that there are plenty of people out there who can give you great one liners on how to fix something or do it better when they aren't the ones who will live with the consequences. My answer is don't mess with it.

It may help the scabs come off sooner...Basically a tattoo is like road rash....Don't pick at it or the tat may look funny and the ink may be uneven when it does heal...I would advise you to just keep it moisturized....Maybe apply the warm heat and then a good lotion....I have a wrist tat too..And a few others....*wink*wink*...They are addictive...ss

Yes, the tattoo shop i go to does the "Hot Towel"
Its only at your request. It helps stops the bleeding, and is susposed to help it heal up faster...

You should only use a hot towel right after getting tattooed.
If you trying to soften up your scabs, i suggest using a little bit of Vitamin E oil.

My husband has had it done, and he likes it.

that would just keep it moist and therefore slow down the healing process.ive had tats that stayed scabby for a month or more.just leave it alone till it heals or else you risk it scarring and the colors fading

Nope. Wouldn't recommend it. Think of it as an "owwie" like a cut. It will take time to heal and DON'T pick at it, you'll risk pulling the ink.

Sorry, never heard of it but your tatoo artist should have recommended vaseline. A tatoo will scab anyway but if you had been applying vaseline since the beginnig- it would not have been so bad- not too late to start!

No, and u shouldn't rub it with a towel either. Just buy some A&D ointment and put it on there.
