It feels like someone's scraping your skin w/a fine needle when you get it & then it feels like a sunburn afterwards. No biggie. If you're scared, go small first -- in a not-so-sensitive area. I got my first one, a daisy, on my ankle. It was fun!

Getting a tattoo is like being a virgin. The first time hurts but it's addictive. I hate pain and I have 9 tattoos and 9 priecings. I personal think, that if there was no sound when u're getting a tattoo, it wouldn't bother u as much. It's the noise that always gets to me. It drives me up the wall. If u do plan to get one, drink a lot the night before. U'll bleed a little more during the process but it'll heal better, cleaner and quicker. I can't wait to get back home. I'm getting 3 more.

It really depends on how much you can bear the pain and where you get it. All the people answering this question that is telling you yes and this and that, don't let that scare you.
If it hurt so much why would people get more then one? I know a girl who is only 14 and got one and she was fine. My boyfriend just got one recently on his finger[ where they supposibly said it hurts most] and he was just fine, he was just sitting there talking to me. It might hurt a bit but whatever doesn't kill you only makes you stronger. Don;t let everyone scare you. and be sure you keep it very lubricated with vaseline, thats what the guy told my boyfriend to do. Be sure you eat ahead of time before getting tattoo's or piercings, if you don't you might want to faint or so.

Yes. The degree of pain will differ with where you get the tattoo and how heavy handed the tattoo artist is .

Depends on where you get them and everyone has a different ability to cope with pain. So on that note be more specific on the placement of the tattoo as well as the size.

I am not sure if you mean after you get it or while getting it...
while - yes it does....the needles are pulsing at speeds up to about 250/second with the number of needles varying depending on whether your artist is outlining or shading
after - it stops hurting when the artist stops...it does feel a little raw after being completed and you're kind of sore for a couple of days after

the process of actually getting a tattoo hurts (in my opinion) and for a few days after you get your tattoo the area round it will be sore. it's all part of having millions of holes poked in your skin!

Yes they do. I have on the side of my lower back and it was sore for about a week or so, I couldn't lay on that side in bed and just moved really carefully so it wouldn't hurt. It's not horrible but it does hurt.

yes it does hurt but the degree of pain depends on where you get the tattoo. i got one on my lower back and it felt like a hot knife writing something in my back, it was the worst when they touched on the bony areas. i'm never getting another one.

It actually kills. It seriously is a needle that is going into your skin and it burns it. It really hurts. My friend got a tatoo and he wouldnt shut up about it for the next two weeks. It was really annoying.
