The mailman will have to go to the nearest temple and go through a Jewish clenthsing ritual. If not, he will go to hell because the Dog is unclean.
You should also look into semitic dog clensing services as your Dog ate part of a creature that doesn't have hoofs or chew on its cud. Check the mailman first, as he may indeed chew on a cud.
If you are Christian however, you can choose what to follow from the Law because Jesus fulfilled it. Some Christians choose to eat unclean foods because Jesus fulfilled it, but then condemn drinking, or sexual promiscuity. Jesus fulfilled those as well didn't he?
Its up to you, but if I were you, I would have the mailman put down and take your dog to the vet.
