i just downloaded a .wmv file using bearshare. when i play it with wondows media player it shows "acquiring license". how can i play that file?

The reason you don't have a license is because you illegally downloaded a copy of the music. You get the license when you purchase the CD. Microsoft has built safeguards into WMP to prevent you from playing illegal music files.

Of course, it could also be that you downloaded a virus, which is what happens often when you download illegal files.

you cant without the drm. and it is very difficult to find the specified drm for a video file. if the video states what site the drm belongs to, go there and buy a license so that you can play the media.

It is called DRM.
Isn't it just the most wonderful thing?
Want more of the same? Well Microsoft is working on it for you.
In the meantime try Vista because that is loaded with DRM.

I had the same problem with media player 11. download "real player" its less hastle, plays anything and has a much better interface.
