I think it's because people so often overcook them so they end up all soggy & tasteless. If you treat them like broccoli & only steam them lightly, they're actually not too bad.
Also, she's probably been traumatised by having them for every meal at school in the run up to christmas - assuming she eats school meals of course. People tend to go a bit loopy before christmas & suddenly you're eating christmas dinner everyday & there's still 3 weeks until the big day! I'm not sure if anything's changed but when I was at school, our sprouts were usually cooked to within an inch of their little green lives & almost evaporated when you poked them with a fork!!! Needless to say, they were revolting!
And if it's not that, maybe she just hates them because most people do! Someone else said they were horrid and in her mind they are now!

Well one sprout goes a long way doesn't it? I did have one in August & another at Christmas, but haven't felt the need since. The taste is too intense for some people. I agree with your daughter as I eat all other veg also.

My 12 year old daughter and I love sprouts. We make them at home. We dont just use the typical mung and alfalfa sprouts. We grow sunflower, radish, fenungreek, green pea, yellow pea, lentil, chickpea, pinto, sprouts. You name it, we sprout it. We have three trays on the go so we can harvest them daily. She takes them in her lunchbox and all the kids want some. The principal comes by to see what she has each day. LOL Maybe try introducing your daughter to sprouting as a hobby. The "Kitchen Crop" sprouter is inexpensive-about 13 dollars on ebay (I got one at a thrift store for a dollar, new in box) It only takes to days to sprout most seeds, and seeds are readily available at health food stores. We even sprout chia seeds (think chia pet) which are realy nutritious and yummy-they form a cool jell that we use to replace eggs in baked goods. Email if you want to try this and need any help My daughter did not like sprouts until she started growing her own. Its a fun hobby

I think kids dont like sprouts because sprouts are always that vegetable that kids on the TV ar shown to hate and other children just follow that. If you say you like sprouts the most of a reply you will get is 'errrr!!'
Its just the way sprouts is shown to be hated most children therefore wont even try it and say they hate them because of what others have told them to like and not to like.
Others however might just not simply like them.
I do but I cant stand it unless they have a bit of gravy on them because they are a bit boring and plain to eat with no sort of sauce.

I have never heard that people don't like sprouts, they used to say that it was hard to get children to eat spinach which is full of iron, but kids don't like it because of it mushy texture. I think that is why they had Popeye the sailor, because he got strong when he eat his spinach, to encourage children to eat spinach.
I love sprouts they and cauliflower are one of my favourite vegetable, I am not too keen on carrots and bake beans though and boiled potatoes. I think it is a lot how you cook vegetables, which can put you off them. I went to boarding school and we had boiled carrots and potatoes at meal time, which made meal time not a nice experience. I can't understand why your daughter hates sprouts, try a different method of cooking them, we always get them at Christmas. I think it boils down to personal taste, at the end of the day.

Sprouts come in a variety of textures and flavors. Bean sprouts are crunchier and can be flavored with things like soy and other sauces. Alfalfa sprouts are more like eating grass and have an "earthy" flavor. Is it important that your daughter like sprouts? I'd say "NOT", because it sounds like she enjoys alot of other vegetables that are probably more nutritious than sprouts!

Cant stand them.
But try stir fying them. Chop very finely & stir fry with a little soya sauce, spring onion & crispy bacon & dress with sesame oil. The horrid little things taste completle different. [ Dont tell her there sprouts until she's tried it]

i hate sprouts and any other vegetable that smells and i like the ones that don't lol. maybe its because she does'nt like the smell. try masking this by making a meal that has the sprout or other vegetable so she canl't really smell or taste it as much ...

As a child I really hated sprouts until my aunt cooked them so they were soft and you could mush them and mix them with your other food.
I still cook them like it now its the only way I will eat them.
