Word is commercial software. Downloading it without paying for it is a violation of international law, punishable by a fine of up to $150,000.00 and possible jail time.
You can download a trial version of Office from the microsoft site. You can also download free, open source alternatives like open office (http://www.openoffice.org/) and Abiword (http://www.abisource.com/)

Microsoft Office products are not free. they never were free and probably will never be free. There are sites online that you can go to and find cheaper prices for oem versions. (this just means you don't get a fancy retail box with it)
If you are absolutely broke and want a better alternative, download Open Office. it's completely free, opensource, and its completely compatible with microsoft office.

Simple.Try Microsoft web site.Also see other sites where free softwares are available for download.If it helps,go to microsoft site cause I have seen free download of "Office-2003"only yesterday.Good luck.
