If by accuracy you mean the viewfinder magnification accuracy -which is a fancy way of saying: how much of what I see in the viewfinder is actually captured on film?

One of the best resources for this is a site maintained by a gentleman by the name of Bojidar Dmitrov (http://www.bdimitrov.de/kmp/).

Often times this calculation is represented as:

Viewfinder Magnification x Coverage %

According to his comparitve charts most of the K Body (K1000, K2, KX, & KM) all fall in the following range:

.88 Magnification x 93-95% coverage (depending on the body).

Anything in the mid to high 90% range is considered quite good.

Hope this is what you were looking for!

The Pentax K1000 is a manual metering camera ... that is to say there are no "auto" options like shutter speed or aperture priority settings. There were a number of auto exposure cameras made that had NO manual settings. Those will have to be avoided in order to comply with your instructors camera specifications. Okay, so what other cameras are equivalent? Canon and Nikon both currently make equivalents to the Pentax. Yes, they include auto exposure and auto focus, but they can be used in manual exposure and focus modes. Why mention Canon and Nikon only? If you even THINK you might become a pro, those are the two manufacturers that about 90% of the working pros use. In addition there are plenty of used ones that can get you started without you having to stop eating for a while after you buy your camera.
