"It is the soldier, not the reporter, Who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the soldier, not the poet, Who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the soldier, not the organizer, Who has given us the freedom to demonstrate.
It is the soldier, Who salutes the flag, Who serves beneath the flag,
And whose coffin is draped by the flag, Who allows the protestor to burn the flag."
- Charles M. Province

I love that poem! It just proves everyone that what they are doing is because of the soldiers! That they died for the flag and for everyone living under that flag. Representing freedom. It goes straight to the point..... wonderful poem.

And for the people who think this is bullshit. Poetry is a way of freedom of speech, you speak on what you think or feel. It all has to do with freedom of speech. Americans fought for it, won it and now we are fighting to protect it. American soldiers fought, risked and even died so we could say on what we think...feel. You should thank the troops everyday for what they have given us. You have NO CLUE what they go through, so we don't have to.

Words of a Staff Sergeant told me, we are already in Iraq... ya some don't agree with it, but there is nothing we can do now. We are there, so we mind as well finish the job. I have never read or heard anything where the Americans said "well we did our best...see you later." We are still trying to fix the wrongs, just because there is no "real" war, there is still a war going on. Support them everyway you can! HOORAH!!

IT is a lovely quote.

Keep this in mind....it is the criminal president Bush that has undermined ALL of the things shown in this quote, caused the flag draped coffins and brought war protesters to the streets by his illegal invasion of Iraq.

Nice delusion.

It's unchecked ideologies that use militaries which threaten freedom and democracy. If people hadn't willingly believed the nonsense of the Bolsheviks, Hitler, Bu**sh**, bin Laden, christianity and others who _use_ military and guerilla armies to oppress, the need for a "military creating freedom" wouldn't exist.

Here's a better quote which you should think about, one with merit:

“You can’t solve a problem with the same mind that created it.”
- Albert Einstein

The quote is wrong. It is the soldier who defends those freedoms

Hit the nail on the head.
People who have not served have no clue what the military goes through.

It's not the military that's getting weak. It's the politicians who are running it who are getting weak.
