(apart from being a steward of course)
...I have itchy feet, cant afford to just go and travel without working and really want to experience and immerse myself in foreign cultures rather than do the usual package holiday. Do you have any ideas that would allow me to travel and work at the same time? Or do you have any views about travelling and seeing the world?

I have done a considerable amount of travelling. I always work in th UK, save money, go abroad and head back when the money starts running out. Unless you have a skill that is in demand and pays well I dont think it is worth working while travelling. If slaving for nearly nothing to plant melons in Israel would suit you then go for it. Travelling and seeing the world is one of the best things that you can do. It is better for you than even becoming a mother and that is so very fulfilling.

Cruise liner staff don't get much opportunity to get off the ship, cabin crew tend to crash out when they arrive.
Why don't you think about a job as a buyer for one of the multiples - they get to travel the world and see and try all-sorts of things.

An old colleague of mine worked for a supermarket chain in a wine buying department she went all around the world tasting and buying wines. what a great job! I ended up doing the same but ended up with canned fish - not exciting but I've been to Alaska to see the annual salmon catch come in and been out with fishermen all over the world catching the different types of tuna.

There are ways to get your air fare cheaply by being ready to go at a moments notice and not being picky where you end up. Stay in youth hostels, and try to get the kind of job that will give you enough to eat on: restaurant work, race horse training stables, hotel staff, and other relatively unskilled labor.

Diplomats. They travel once and a while, come in contact with many new cultures, learn loads of languages, get a good pay and have fun. You should get a college degree in communication, politics or business.

Work on board a cruise ship - all sorts of jobs you could get on them, from cleaner / hairdresser / receptionist. Or why not save enough for your airfare to Oz then work your way around there. Don't need mega bucks to do it, just a return ticket if it all goes wrong!

Have you thought of working with VSO? You can get details about them through the internet. (www.vso.org.uk?) I looked at working with them, and although its never going to be a luxury trip, you get to immerse in culture and people, get the benefits of being somewhere with an organisation, and get to do a little good in with it!

Courior, U take important documents by hand all over the world. Large companies do this to make sure that important documents etc are not lost in post, so they are delivered by courior.
