When I walk in the house I would like to be able to look at the answering machine (phone) and see if there are messages. I do not want to have to pick up the phone and listen to a tone to hear whether or not there are messages waiting.

Does anyone know if there's an answering machine that monitors the dialtone to see if there are messages and then shows a light when there are?

Thanks. (Verizon is my local service provider)

i think your question is wrong. what you want is a PHONE (either the handset or its base) that has a VISUAL VOICEMAIL INDICATOR. that's your search key. and yes, there is a bunch of those out there in the market. one of them: Sony SPP-S2720.

search on yahoo or google. if you want more options, search for VISUAL VOICEMAIL INDICATOR.

I don't know about any thing like that but I purchased a item from The Sharper Image that's called an Info Globe. It is hooked up to my phone line and it's a globe that has a Scrolling Led Message Center with caller ID.

I can be across the room and see weather I have any messages waiting as it scrolls across the face of the globe in blue. It also shows phone numbers/date/time and if it is a Holiday. Plus you can add your own message to it if you like.

I got tired of having to pick up the phone to see if there was a studder dial tone, to be able to see if I had messages or not. Plus my caller Id is so small on my phone that it's hard to see it. I also have a want a be stalker and it does help me to know when not to pick up the phone if he is the one who is calling.

It's really easy to see/and it works great. It has already paid for it's self as far as I'm concerned.

Hope this helps you. Good luck!
