Sometimes select grapes are put up in special syrup and canned. Often they are put up natural and sometimes with artificial colors and special flavors. Some grapes are canned with a spice mix and called Grapes Jubilee. In almost all cases they are used in deserts or gelatin salads. I'm not sure if this is what you remember or not but canned grapes are pretty rare. Mostly they are sold fresh, as raisins, grape juice, or wine.
