What is it that you are forgoing for the next 40 days?

Oh man, a lot of religion and Catholic bashing going on here. This was a serious question for serious people.

Father,
through our observance of Lent,
help us to understand the meaning
of Your Son's death and resurrection,
and teach us to reflect it in our lives.
Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son.who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen
May God Bless ALL of you!!

Hi Tori, I am giving up T.V for Lent and will spend more time in spiritual reading and prayer, I did this last year and it was the hardest thing for me,still if it was easy we would find no challenge in Lent at all.
All the best to you for your own Lenten promises.

I am non-denominational Christian. Lent is for Catholics and off-shoot religions of Catholics.

Lent is not Biblical, and is not one of the requirements of God. He states that He hates your festivals that are the traditions of man.
Mans traditions make void the Word of God.
And, of course, following this "lent" they will do the "easter" thing. It was a mistranslation only one time in the Bible in the Book of Acts, but boy they grabbed onto it -
A Christian should be following the example of Christ. What did Christ celebrate at that time of the year? Passover. On the highest day of Christianity, on the highest day of Gods calender, so-called Christians are out there rolling eggs. Its an insult to the very blood that Christ shed on the Cross.
Who was a Christian if not Christ? Rolling eggs and teaching nonsense to children (like that eve ate an apple and thats what made him mad) is a great way for them to learn about Christianity.
It is disgusting at very best.

Don't you think that it is rather strange that people look at the whole religion thing from a human viewpoint.
"what you can do for God"
Not what He did for You.
That you can do something for the all-mighty.
A little human being doing something for the all-mighty God.

How about He sacrificed for you. Not the other way around.

Pray for me - I forgot all about it.

I need to sacrifice myself as a holy vessel for God and quit being so sinful.

All animal products. Meat, eggs, milk, etc etc. that is the easy part.

The harder part, trying not to get upset when someone insults me and my religion. for example the person who gave me a thumbs down for my answer. I forgive you. Peace to one and ALL.
