Hello everyone ... i have a lovely little cat named Hestia ... me and my gf loves her ... usually we toss her ball at night for a good 30 min or until she is bored ... then when its time to go to bed she is usually a very good girl ... she comes and sleep with us until 4 am ... the she starts to be a little rascal ... so we usually try to put her in the bathroom ( where food litter and everything is there) ... but she bangs on the door ( we got her de-clawed from the SPCA) sooo noisy it wakes us up ( and i also fear it would wake the neighbour ) ... we tried towels and everything seems to fail... i don't mind waking up at 4 to put her in the bathroom ... but i would like to reduce the noise she makes while banging on the door ... does anyone of you have the same situation ? any tips tricks would do ?

thank you everyone !!!

I don't think locking her in the bathoom is a good idea. It would only make her worse. She is probably already spayed (from the SPCA) so it is just a habit. What she wants is for you to get up and feed her or something. My DH's cat does that but then he is willing to get up at 4 am.. However, I am not. So when he is away from home there are no problems with her trying to wake me. She doesn't try because she knows I will not respond. My DHs cat has him trained. Your cat has you trained. At least she is declawed (not that I usually approve) but it means that during the training period you need to go through at least she will not be ruining your furniture trying to get your attention. You must ignore her entirely until the time you want to get up. When you get up then give her all kinds of attention and feed her. It will not take too long for her to adjust her clock.

When my 1 yr old was a kitten, he used to wake me up at 4:30 or 5am by his rumbuctious playing (in my bedroom). Then I began to crate him (bed him down inside his cat carrier locked) for the night. I'd cover the carrier with a towel part way so its dark inside. The kittn would go to sleep and if he woke up sometime during the early morning hours and note that he is still in the carrier and that it was dark, he'd go back to sleep. He would meow to be let out as soon as he hears me stirring abut in the bedroom. After about 2 or 3 weeks, the kitten got so used to the routine that I coud leave him out and trust him not to be noisy until I was up and about. You might try the trick and see if it works for you.

Maybe the bathroom is to small. My cats are the same - They wake up and start playing at 4:30 or so. I just get up and close them out of the bedroom. That gives them the entire apartment to play in. They have only woken me up once while playing when locked out of the bedroom - They accidentally thought the door was open and slammed into it.

You may think this is not nice, but when my cat does that, I shoot her with a squirt gun (toy water gun). She shuts up. However, your cat may be going into heat. Have you had her fixed? I don't know the age of your cat, but she should be fixed by the time she is 6 months old. After, that, if she still cries, it is her instinct that makes her think she wants to be with a male. If it is a drastic thing with her crying, you can also take her to the vet to have her de-meowed. She can't cry then, and she will still be fine.

Well, I think putting her in the bathroom is not a good idea, i think it's making it worse. When my cat starts coming up to me during the night, rubbing my face and purring I feed her and that stops it but she doesn't normally make too much noise during the night. Why don't you try a few websites like

We have 6 cats and they all "scratch" on doors that are closed and they want them to be open.

When i lived with only 1 cat, she used to "scratch" on the door to the hallway! It was so loud that anyone walkiing in the hall would hear, plus, it was annoying! What we did was prop 2 tall pillows on the door so she couldnt reach it to scratch.

I wouldnt lock her in a room, I would keep all doors open at night so she doesnt have to scratch to let you know she wants to get in/out.

With my cats...I had to sacrifice closing my bedroom door at night...or I would be up every 15 min. to let a scratching cat in or out!!

Cats are smart!

this is exactly what occurs to me, yet I even have 3 male cats coming to my abode even in the process the day. They meow combat and go away gives you each the place. i think of its by way of fact I actually have a female cat that still is going outdoors now and back. On many activities she has been attacked by utilising one in each of them. however the project is that i know the proprietors of the cats and that i dont want the safeguard to take them away.

Is she in heat? This could be the problem, cats get really LOUD during this time, if so get her spayed. If she is already spayed then I would have to say you have a very noisey cat, sorry.
