When the US changes over from Analog to Digital in 2009 will a person be able to get channels on a analog TV if they have cable? Will I have to get Digital cable? I know you can buy digital convertor boxes for your TV. I was just curious if you have to get the convertor boxes if you have cable. I don't really want to buy a digital TV they are very expensive. I have regular cable and digital cable is a lot more expensive too. What about satalite will you still need the convertor boxes with satalite?

Cable TV is already digital TV even through an old TV. You only need a converter (be that an integrated one or a set-top box) if you are receiving digital through an aerial. Again, satellite TV is already digital. These sites will give you more detailed info and have dedicated forums:

As I understand it, once the switch is made you must have a digital tv as analog will no longer be available and an analog tv doesn't get digital signals. Not sure about converters though.
IMO, just another way for cable and satellite companies to get more money out of us.

I don't think the cable or satellite companies are going to leave analog TV users without service. I believe the most you will probably have to do is get a new box.
