I was thinking recently that the Japanese Really haven't invented anything original in the past 100 years. We invent the computer, microprocessor, television, etc, and they go ahead and make a better contraption. However, they didn't actually invent any of this stuff. And no, Nintendo does not count: It's more of the same.

Hey linlyons, YOU are the one talking like a racist. I don't think the canadians have ever invented anything important either, but I'd love to be proven wrong.

The Japanese have led the way in the seismic isolation of buildings and bridges. Since the islands of Japan are located in a high seismic zone and land costs are very high, they have had to build up instead of laterally.

They also are innovators in reclaiming land from the sea for their new airport.

An improvement is still a discovery. It is very rare that someone is going to invent something completely new and never heard of before. Almost every invention is just an extension and improvement of previous inventions. Improvements on "western inventions" are still significant discoveries.

they actually invent more on electronics and we dont hear much about electronic components dont we? thts y we hardly hear they invent something. but the smartest will always be the jews, but ill say that germans and japs are clever too!
