The Bible clearly says that Christians are chosen by God. If you are an unbeliever does that make you made that the fact that you are not a Chrstian is not even your decision? (Even though the Bible does say all are invited to place their faith in Christ, God knows whose character wouldn't allow for that to happen)

Yup. This is the beauty (ahem) of Calvinism.

Wars have been fought over this. :(

As a pirate I find this question quite offensive.

Of course a religious book would claim something like that, if I wrote a religious book I'd claim that my people were better than yours. It has nothing to do with a decision.

On an additional note, your Bible actually says that the Israelites (these days commonly known as Jews) were God's chosen people, not Christians.

The fact that I'm not a christian WAS most definitely my choice. I don't get why you think I'd be mad about anything.

And I'm quite sure there are other religions out there whose respective bibles just as clearly state that THEY are the chosen ones.

So get over yourself already! lol

The New Testament might say that, not the entire book. Most of the Old Testament is about placing your faith in God. So it is contradictory in message.

John Calvin put That out in the 14th. century. He was quite a theologist.
I think he had it very close to being 100% correct.

One becomes part of the elect when they say yes to Jesus.

But the sovereignty of God and the freewill of man work together....we don't know how.....it just does.

And yes....I am a Calvinist.

And the Torah says that the Jewish are the chosen people. Each religion has something that says that they are the chosen ones.

Examine your own words: "If you are an unbeliever ..." means that the person doesn't believe what the bible says.

If you read a novel, does it make you mad that you don't decide what the characters do?

He has known all of the decisions from the beginning of time and knows which of us chooses him or not.

I'm pretty sure the Jews are the chosen ones - stop moving in on their title!

Primitive Baptists and Calvinists believe in predestination. They are the only ones who are studying the direct teachings of Jesus, and all others have gone off the path to heaven. They are the predestined ones, the only ones who will be in heaven...either you are born that way or you will burn in hell. God has choen them prior to them even being born..... What a crock of sh*t.
