Hey there everybody. I am a U.S citizen (Michigan) and my insurance will not cover a certain drug I need for my Raynaud's disease. So frustrating! My doctor and I are at our wits' end! The pharmacist told me that US insurance companies are pretty much the same on this med so switching insurance companies really won't help. =( So . . . I'm looking to see if I can get if from Canada. But, I don't know how to go about it - like how to find a pharmacy, how to know what the price of the med will be, etc. I live in Detroit area so I would probably be going somewhere around Windsor. Any help or info I can get is greatly appreciated. =) Thanks everyone! =)

My understanding of this is that you must have a doctor based in the US who is authorized/licensed to practice in Canada and vice versa for a Canadian Citizen.

In order to receive medications from Canada you must have proof as well that you are a citizen if a US resident you will most likely have to determine if your doctor is authorized to write prescriptions that will be accepted here...thus he needs to have license to practice in Canada.

My daughter currently living in the US has a prescription from Canada which cannot be transferred to a pharmacy in her location unless her doctor has a license for the US. Because of this, and due to time constraints which didn't allow me to wait til her doctor was back from vacation, she was required to fax me copies of her Passport photo id, drivers license id, birth certificate and all copies of the prescription and doctors note that indicated she was to be on the medication being sent. I then had to courier it via a company that was authorized to carry medications.

Here are a few pharmacies in the Windsor area that you might wish to phone to determine exactly what they would require and if they can help at all:
