IF YOU KNOW HIS WHEREABOUTS:
go about it slowly. send a card or a letter. stick to safe topics, neutral stuff. dont talk about the reasons for your enstrangement. tread on safe ground, meet at a neutral place. when things are comfortable enuff, pls tell him you love him. in this world where wickedness, malice, greed, jealousy, hatred, evil run loose, you have someone to love, go ahead...dont be chicken! remember, love needs no words, language,gestures, love is a language in its own right.
IF U DONT KNOW WHERE HE IS:
try putting his picture on the net, people will surely help u trace him out.
you know, out here, in india, a lot of importance is given to relationships. this kind of thing is almost unheard of.
he's ur brother, friend, its grrrrrrt ur taking the initiative...go ahead!!

If you feel that he will not welcome a phone call from you, ask a neutral third party to call and arrange a meeting. If you think he will be okay with a call from you, call but don't try to have the reconciling conversation over the phone. It's too easy for one person to get angry or frustrated and hang up.
Just have a short conversation, and a good idea might be to invite him to meet in a coffee shop. I wouldn't meet in a bar because alcohol diminishes inihibitions, and one of you might say something that you regret later.
In that first meeting, I would not try to cover all the ground of what your differences were, but just try to tell him all the reasons it is important for you to have a good relationship with him in the future.

if no longer there ask a neighbor if they rember him and if they do see where he moved to and go there
