I just started weight watchers. They say that I need to eat 8 serving of fruits & veggies daily. Are they saying that a serving is a cup of each? Has anyone done weight watchers? How do I need to count my servings of veggies and fruit?

There are two ways you can count your servings of fruit and vegetables: by cups

1/2 cup fresh/cooked fruit or veggies equals one serving.

(So one cup has two servings)

3/4 cup fruit or veggie juice is one serving

1/4 cup dried fruit (or veggies?) is one serving

or there is another way that measures the calories:

25 calories of vegetables is one serving

50 calories of fruit is one serving.

Also, potatos don't count as fruit because it's very high in starch
and tomatoes are fruit.

Different fruits and veggies consider different sizes as servings ask weight watchers specifically what they mean...also to my servings I use this stuff called Juice Plus it doesn't have any calories in it and it's a good supplement if you can't get all of them in during one day (it's hard for me because I work long hours)

Counting portion will make you fatter due to the stress. This is why America is fatter than ever. Nourish your body thin, instead of starving your body fat. Good carbs like celery and carrots will never make you fat. Bad carbs like cake will, but you don't need to know the whole science of glycemic load. You need to re-learn how to eat so you can become thin and healthy. Salt has no calories but makes you fat and burning more calories does not help this fatness.

It's one-half cup. Well...i'm following the USDA MyPyramid. They suggest 5 one-half cup servings of vegetables daily for a 2000 calorie diet.

if you go on-line, you can find websites that list how much of each fruit and vegetable is considered a serving. Also, some cook-books have listings.
