I have an unexplained rash( for over 4 weeks now). It is red and blotchy and started out all over my arms and legs, and has now also spread to my stomach, buttocks and sides, it does not itch. I have already seen my GP, and have been for a blood test, the results have come back clear, I am going to see my doctor again tomorrow. Just wondered if anyone had experienced anything similar? Or if anyone has any ideas as to what it could be? The only medication I have been on is cerazette (contraceptive) which I stopped taking a week ago; this has not helped my rash to clear up so far. The doctor said it didn't look like an allergy- it is underneath the skin, so it's not washing powder etc that has caused it. I have tried anti-histamines; these didn't help. The dr gave me hydrocortisone cream when I first went to see him as he though it may be exema- this didn't help either. Anyone experienced anything similar? It's making me depressed now as I have to cover it up all the time : (

Your GP may not be qualified to diagnosis such a rash. You should really make an appointment with a good dermatologist. There are many many skin conditions and they should be able to narrow down what it is and how to treat it. Tell your GP you want a dermatologist to look at it and get a referral if you need too. Ask your Dr to refer you to a doctor who is able to run more extensive testing. Most GP's don't do anything but the bare basics.
