I once farted in the front of a lecture hall, and it was so loud, people didn't know what the noise was at first. they looked around with stupid looks or their faces, until the smell of decayed *** gas hit their nostrils.
Farts can be small or large, but all organic intestinal activity (at least the bacteria inside them) will produce gas, and if it is something the bacteria likes to eat, this can be a lot of Gas. Fun Fun Fun!!!

In France in the last 1800's there was a stage performer called Le Petoman, who farted on stage for the amusement of audiences. He started out bey making a sound that was like the "ripping of ten yards of calico", and it went on from there. Ladies would often faint from laughing so hard during his performance. His secret, was that he learned to suck air into his anus, while swimming in the ocean.... Ah to have a talent like that. His dead body was autopsied but doctor's failed to find anything remarkable about his bowels or anus.

Yes you can fart for 7-14 days after you die, depending on room temperature.

Yep. Gases build up with the decaying food in the intestines and cause the dead body to 'fart' when alleviating the pressure.

OMG, how funny! I was thinking about that yesterday! I can just imagine the mortician or coroner or whoever all alone with a room full of dead bodies and all these farting noises going on all around...that is too funny!!!!

I don't think so, because your digestive system, along with the rest, have shut down. Maybe some air may come out but not in the sense of farting.

Due to decomposition, the bacteria in the body will produce gases and sometimes these gases escape through the anus, causing a fart-like sound.

Yes and No. There may be some farting shortly after death as the bowels evacuate. All orifaces relax after death making things messy for the mortician.

No, you cannot. When you 'fart', the sound is being made by gas leaving your body through your anal sphincter while it is contracted. When you die, you cannot contact this muscle anymore, so you can't fart. Gases can escape your body, but there will be no sound.

When you die, the process of decomposition creates gases that need to go somewhere so they usually come out of the orifaces of the body (mouth and anus).

Edit: and I would like to add a comment based on itaf's answer... your hair and nails do not continue to grow, but your skin recedes thus giving the appearance of growing hair and nails.

Yes, the hole is still there, and any gas inside will come out. You also lose your poo...because the muscle no longer works to keep it in...the good news is you don't care because you are dead. Let someone else deal with it!

yes it is true, gasses build up in the body resulting in a fart. thats why bodies are 'massaged' before a funeral to prevent that happening
