By striking resemblance:

Physical appearance (though not as big), strikingly similiar mannerisms, gestures, "accent", and same eating habits/mannerisms.

Also same temper, same philospohy and values, and possibly similiar "connections"?

My grandfather resembled him. He didn't have the accent. He died when I was 4 so I don't really remember him, but he was your stereotypical Sicilian man, and he was strict as far as my mother was concerned. She got married at 18 to get out of the house. My grandmother loved him devoutly, even after he died, but she was afraid of him too. I know my sister was afraid of him when she was little. His picture is on his head stone and he looks like a mafia man. But it was the way he treated them that made them afraid, not that he looked the way he did.
For me too, it would be in how he treated me, not how he looked as to whether or not I was afraid, felt protected, or felt proud on him.

I would feel both protected and honored as it seems like your father is also an inteligent man.
