My pup would rather eat human food (who doesn't) But he is to the point he jumps on a chair to the table. I pick him up scold him and put him on the floor. He doesn't even wait until I get out of the room he is back on the table trying to share food with my kids. They tell him no and make him get down. What else can I do to make him stop this?

Never feed your dog before you eat! First to eat is the master. If you feed him first you are telling him that he is in charge. This will only make the problem worse because he will think he is entitled to some of your food. Take the advice of some of the others and leash or crate him while you eat. I would recommend the leashing so he can see you all eating. Then, after you are finished, give him his food. This sends the signals that he is not in charge and cannot eat whatever he wants.

Common behavior but definatley not a good one.. I recommend putting a leash on the dog and let him drag it around the house it is easier to correct the dog when you have something to pull him off with. An obeidence class that does NOT use treats would also benefit all. Use the crate if the puppy is jumping at the table during meals put him in the crate remember that he can come out when he is quiet if he cries he needs to be quiet and then let him out.. If you let him out when he is crying you are reinforcing that behavior.. dog thinks huh... I cry you let me out I win..be consistant. if you have other questions you can email me at the web site below

This is bad habit for a dog to get into. First of all, real dog/puppy food has certain nutrients in it that dogs absolutely need - that are not present in people food. Dogs should eat food engineered for them and not human food. To break this habit that he has, first be sure that he has had his dinner before you eat yours. Next, I would put him in his crate or in another room while you are eating your dinner. Hope this helps. Always discipline gently.

Stop feeding him food from the table and keep him out of the room when you are eating.

Put him on a leash and control him while your eating until he learns he can't jump on the table and eat human food.

You may want to crate him when you eat. It will be simpler for all of you. The puppy won't be tempted, and your family will be able to enjoy a peaceful meal again.
