I am back in the single lane after recent separation?
Not a nightclub or bar kind of guy. And i'm pushing 40 with 2 young kids.
So friends recommended lavalife or match.
Heard some conflicting things about them, and have yet to meet someone who has managed to successfully parlay an internet hookup into any worthwhile relationship with long term potential.

Any advice or stories to share?

Alot of people think internet dating doesn't work. Well I disagree. Don't get me wrong, there are some people looking for quick sex, but you have to weed thru them. You can find someone for you. I met my boyfriend who I fell in love with and have been dating for 8 months. We met on yahoo personals. He had went on more dates before me and was distraught till he met me. We live like 38 miles apart and both make the effort for the relationship to work. It's been a life saver for me, I'm not the outgoing type and sorta picky on who I let in my life. This way I pretty much knew him before we met. I would suggest it. Yahoo personals, plenty of fish(it's free), cupid, and match is good. Good luck, always be careful on the first meeting. Tell someone you trust where u are going and with who. Give them the person's phone number in case something happens..
God Bless..

they do work.. i met my man on match.. i do recommend plentyoffish, it's free. just take your time, be honest, and see what happens. of course there are bad stories about any sort of matchmaking method. I was married for 31 years and had no clue how to enter the dating world. the best advice came from my kids, be smart, be careful, and take your time. a little hint... make the first move , just sent winks and see if she winks back. good luck to you

I took the free personality profile on e-Harmony.com because I was recently divorced & women were hitting on me (I am female). That was not helping my already wounded pride. After completing the personality profile, e-Harmony sent me several matches of men whose profiles closely resembled mine (personalities, values, beliefs etc). I have been engaged to one of these guys for several months now & we are getting married soon. Do they work? Mine did! Try e-Harmony.com

They do work, but mine was the worse experience, I personally say there's so many people out there in front of you why look online for people who you can't even see.

Beats me! but I think it's a waste of time. do you really need to look? just wait and see maybe sooner or later someone will come your way, ( just go with the flow....good luck!)

Internet dating does work. You just have to be patient. You might want to look into singleparent.com, blackplanet.com, and lovehappens.com
