my 9 month old toy poodle just had surgery three weeks ago to remove part of his femur due to legg calve perthes disease. now he is very very ill with liver disease. can anesthisia cause this. i'm extremely worried about him. he will not play, walks very little, refuses almost all food, will not drink ( he has had to have IV fluids and i give him pedialite in his mouth with a syringe). he takes lasix and denosyl daily. i am not looking to place blame...i don't really care what caused it. i just don't want to loose him, he is like my baby. what should i feed him and how else can i help him? i'm feeling so helpless

venetta, i did not mean to imply i am caring for this puppy without a vet....he goes to the vet every other day right now ...in fact i've spent nearly 3 thousand dollars on his health and will continue no matter what the price...i thought maybe someone had some inovative ideas on how i can help him get well and get him to eat, drink and play again

Research the pain meds that were given, if any, after the surgery. Rhimidyl is a commonly used pain med and it can cause liver failure.

It's unlikely that the anesthesia caused the liver disease. If you really need help with your puppy, I would suggest calling a vet. They are the ones that can help your puppy. As you stated, your puppy is very ill and getting help from people that are not vets, can be detrimental to your puppy even though they may have the best of intentions.
