They could have barriers up that could dissipate your spell. They could detect your casting upon them and retaliate with a spell of their own, or they could do nothing.

It all depends on how powerful both of you are in relation to one another and if you would want to start a magickal battle.

I would warn you to be careful when casting on someone else when you have their permission and never cast on anyone without it.

The primary risk is ethical -- have you cast the spell in such a way that you respect the person's right to make their own choices or have you cast it to change their mind for them? How will you 'act in accord' with this casting?

Remember that we become the world we try to create... and we build the world in the image of what we become. If we become uncaring, arrogant, and manipulative, that is likely what we will attract.

They may discover it. Which means they can cast one on you, but they have to figure it out first. I was ex-wiccan and some wiccans don't like that so one cast a spell on me, once I figured it out, I did not have to figure out who cast it on me, I just prayed that it would go back to the person it came from, I was hoping that the rule of three would apply to them, so they would never cast a spell on me again, either way, once they got a taste of their own medicine, they stopped messing with me.

Cool - someone is offering $1 million to cast a spell on them - what spell do you want cast on you?

Anyways, you should never cast a spell ON a person - that usually backfires backwards on to you.

The risk is much the same as that involved in throwing a marshmallow at someone across the street who sees you throwing it.

They may find out who it is. If you're inexperienced, most often you leave a piece of yourself with the spell. From that, they can go back and find out who you are and potentially curse you.
