The U.S. Navy currently has a program going on called I-A (Individual Augmentee). They are sending thousand of sailors through army training and sending them to Iraq and Afghanistan. Volunteers and non-volunteers. Sending officers to the Marines would be no problem since the Marines are technically a branch of the Navy.

yeap. There are several AD Navy Officers whose fulltime job is working with Marines, and no, I don't mean Medical Personnel.

There is also the possibiloity of IA..Individual Augmentee, whereby you are sent on a TAD basis..deploymnet, basically, as an individual and not as part of a command/unit.
