Well I don't know, but I can assure you it might be better than being secular in a religious society. people can't let other ppl live freely...

I would think it would be hard to be religious in an anti-religious (dictator, monarchy etc) society where it was illegal to be religious. For example, communist China. In a secular society, there is no requirement to be religious, nor is there any against being religious. Seems it would be easier in that society because there is freedom. For example, the USA. Eh?

Temptations, as in vices? Smoking cigarettes is my only vice, and although it's VERY HIGHLY discouraged in my religion, it's not forbidden.

To preface the following paragraph:
I'm a Baha'i. Baha'is have a month of fasting, like the Muslims have Ramadan. Our month is Ala, from March 2-20. Our months are 19 days long, so during the Baha'i month of Ala, we fast from sunrise to sunset. There is no food, drink, smoking, or sex. We pray more during this time.

I remember one time was difficult. There's this Fundie Christian at work, and when she found out I was fasting, she scrunched up her face and asked, "WHAT?????" I said I'm a Baha'i, and it's the Baha'i month of fasting. Again, she scrunched up her face and asked, "WHAT??????" I thought gee, how rude. Do you do this to everyone who's different??? Are you incapable of wrapping your brain around something different, or are you so saturated in your closed-minded Fundie ways??

I have a personal issue with Fundies 'cause I used to be one. ~SHUDDER~

Since I'm not a Christian, I observe Christmas very little. If I had it my way, I wouldn't observe it at all. However, I live with my sister who is Catholic and celebrates Christmas, so I can't ignore her, no way. I get her GREAT gifts and can afford to, since she's the only one on my list, lol.

I used to party like it was 2099 back in the day. I no longer do, especially since alcohol is forbidden in the Baha'i Faith. My party friends had a slow time getting used to this. My conversion was in 2000, and in 2005, one of my friends that I used to party with actually put a cup of booze to my lips and said, "Take a sip." Now, I had explained to him several times that alcohol is forbidden in my religion, and that I would never partake again. His action was SO RUDE! I asked him, "Would you put ham to a Jew's mouth and tell them to take a bite?"

People sometimes have a hard time that I'm not the Christian norm. That's harder than being religious at all.

it is in the UK.

too many people still believe it is fashionable to have a go at the christians. At the same time, they bend over backwards to accomodate muslims.

So being a muslim in the UK is pretty easy really. If anyone says something you don't like, claim islamaphobia and they will soon change their mind.

in this day and age it's not so much hard to resist temptation, it's hard just to practice your religion, christians are persecuted for offending muslims, muslims are persecuted for offending everyone ( real and percieved), sikhs are persecuted for their beliefs, even budhists are persecuted, born again christians and jehovahs witnesses have been persecuted for so long it's probably been integrated into their religion. if your belief is strong, hold onto it and it will become stronger.
