Hi Edel, sorry to hear about your loss hopefully this may bring you some comfort, when someone we love dies the love that we shared does not just fade away, because they are in the presence of God then that love is infinitely stronger and this is perhaps the reason why we feel their presence, there are most certainly Angels and while we cannot know for sure until we ourselves pass over it is very possible that they are our connection to our departed friends and loved ones.
We all are connected while here on earth and that connection is made all the more perfect when we are with God,your friend is always aware of what you both shared here and all that love and affection is still the bridge between both of you.

I believe in both and I have psychic and mediumistic experiences too sometimes. And should is a tricky word. If missing him is hurting you then that hurt "should" be alleviated. Sometimes forgetting about something is helpful and part of the grief process. Sometimes feeling a presence and remembering is helpful too. I'm sure he would want to help you get over that hurt somehow. I don't understand how the supernatural works really... I think the spirits are always there. But I think the attributes of alien omnipotence that so many people project onto Gods and Angels and such, is not really accurate. It's more complicated and interactive than that. But they're always there... so no one is ever truly alone, if they'd just open their minds and pay better attention.

Yes, I believe that there are good/evil spirits as well as good/bad angels. You may read the following: Luke:1:26-38; Luke 4:1-13; Luke 11:24-26 and many more in the Bible.

Watch the movie " What Dreams May Come " starring Robin Williams and then see what you think. Maybe also the movie " City of Angels " with Nicholas Cage and Meg Ryan. I myself very much feel solid in the thought that there are spiritual beings, spirits, angels. It actually warm me to think of that.

The spirit world, that place where all spirits go upon mortal death, is closer than you think. Although there is a veil, it is speculation that departed spirits are aware of mortal activities.
Angels are those holy beings that were once born on earth in mortality, but serve God in the eternities.

I don't believe in spirits or angels, but I do believe that a strong memory can be experienced as very "real," due to the way the mind processes information.

Angels are real and when we die no we do not become angels.
Spirits are demons from the devil. When we die we either go to heaven or hell we do not turn into spirits. I am sorry to hear about your friend but his memory will always live on in your heart.
