Encourage them to do the right things.
Tell them you're proud of them for doing those right things.
Listen To Them.
Listen to them, JUST LISTEN.
If you start lecturing them while you're trying to tell you how they feel they won't hear you at all.
Pray for them and WITH them.
I know I feel more loved and stronger when i tell an adult or person about my problem and then we pray about it.
All of these things I think will bring youth closer to both you and God.

We need to lead by example. When problems arise, as parents, we should show our children that we place these problems at the foot of the throne and walk away knowing in faith, it is solved.
We have so much competition in the world. Pills, music, wordly friends, money, alcohol etc... all w/ promises to help them cope. The problem is, it does.....temporarily. And there lies the deception. They feel that the world, and not God, has solved their problem. I teach my children, from very young (18months), to begin to pray and trust God even with the slightest booboo. It's not easy to follow Christ. Satan comes after you full blast when you do. And following Christ doesn't mean your life will be heavenly here on earth. It's a tough sell with a decision that comes either from maturity or from a decision made in their early years.

What we as adults can do is set the best examples possible. Our youth are needing good leaders to look up to. Parents, our kids don't need friends but parents to set boundaries for them and to enforce them. Teachers to encourage, and youth leaders in church to listen and teach moral standards to encourage mission action projects.

This will be vague but it is so true. "Bring up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart" Be a living example of what they should do. Teach and pray that you will be a good example. Remember when you were young and allow fun to be a christian word.

Faith is truly something that someone must discover on their own. Try to guide them in the right way, but do not force anything down their throats.
More people are turned off to faith by having stuff crammed down their throats than anything else.

Kids do not need god to cope with things. They need parents and friends...god makes it harder.

get them interested in activities but relate them to real life but dont put to much pressure on them to change their life... but do activities that relate them to problem and relate them to life stories from the bible.
