People always think high carbs is yellow things. Although this is almost true, there are exceptions. Potatos are high in carbs and so is pasta. Rice is also another one, but brown rice is lower. Ever heard of couscous? Now that stuff is excellent. Low in fat and low in carbs and low in GI. Corn (mielies) are also high in carbs. Chocolate and sweets are high. Meat and veggies (the green ones) are low in carbs.

Some high carb foods are pasta, potato's, sugar, bread, milk, lollies ,chocolate, chips and cereals.
some low carb foods are, meat, such as beef, bacon, pork, chicken, fish, and tuna. also green salads such as lettuce, cucumber, celery. eggs are low in carbs, and most hard cheese's. I found the DR Akins book has the what to and not to eat carbs. also the power of protein is also a good book.
I hope I was some help. take care lol.

I have been on a low carb diet for 6 month and I have lost 8 kilo's.
It works, but you have to eat carbs every now and again otherwise you go nuts. I have my breakfast cereal in the morning for fibre and that's it.
I live off high protein foods like, lean cut meats, low fat dairy, eggs, and of course lots of vegetable. Fruits have carbs however; you need a couple of pieces a day.
Chocolate is OK in moderation because it's low GI and has lots of antioxidants.
Rice, pasta, bread and potatoes are pretty much non exist ant in my diet now and I don't miss them.
Low fat ice cream is my guilt free treat!

One of the above posters is incorrect. Butter is not high carb. Fats...such as meats and cheese are low/no carb. Eggs are also no carb, as is mayonaisse, deli meats, mustard, and some sauces. High carb is things like pastas, bread, fruits, some vegetables have carbs (like carrots), dairy products, candy. When I was on Atkins (which I STRONGLY discourage, because of all the fat intake), I had a cheese omelette and bacon for breakfast, some tuna fish served on slices of cheese for lunch (along with some celery and ranch or a salad) and then chicken and veggies for dinner.

It is best to eat protein with your rabbit food. Eating vegetable will only make you hyngry every couple hours. You need something to fill you up. Also you can eat complex carbs. The only thing you should stay away from is white bread, doughnuts, drinks with a lot of sugar, stick to drinks that have under 20gms of carbs. And do not go to fast food places they have a lot of extra grease and unuseful calories. Try going to a gym too. That might help.

Everything I love to eat is high carb - white rice, bread, pasta and desserts.
Everything else must be low carbs plus butter, oils, cheeses & just about all nuts that aren't coated sugar or syrup.

as a diabetic, i have to know alot about this. there are 2 main types of carbohydrates-simple sugars , which include things like white sugar, sweets honey and syrups and complex sugars, which include starchy foods like potatoes, beans and pulses, cereals, bread and some grains like rice and corn. These foods usually have a low GI, which means the sugar in these foods is released into the bloodstream more slowly giving u longer lasting energy and a longer feeling of fullness than you would otherwise get from foods containing simple sugars. There are also foods which have little or no carbohydrate whatsoever. These are known as free foods. Free foods include non starchy vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini and spinach, dairy foods such as cheese, cream and sour cream, meat and poultry and some nuts. Tea and coffe are also classed as free foods, as long as they do not contain a large amount of milk or sugar.
