I do not categorize music into secular and Christian. Music is something that is essential to my life because I am a musician. I can find God in songs that were not meant to be about him, but I find the concept of him inside the song anyway. (Example, Lifehouse, "Hanging by the Moment").

There are Christians working in newspaper offices. Those certainly are not churches. Just as not everyone is called to be a pastor or a teacher in the church, not everyone is going to be working in a situation where everyone around them is a devout believer in God. The Bible NEVER said that we are only to have the circle of believers around us.

Personally, I do not think there is a problem with someone playing in a rock band. Hey, even Alice Cooper is a Christian.

Are you serious?

So you are saying that (usually) Christians should only associate with other Christians and only take part in things that are about worshiping Jesus?

OMG. "Secular"? A "secular" band?

Evangelicals and Mega Churches are trying to create a seperate universe for their "flocks". That's why they put Starbucks and movie theaters and rock climbing walls...in their churches - it is much easier to get ALL of your money if they keep you inside their world. It is much easier to control the information you get and thus, keep you under control. Follow the money. It is all about the dollars.

The people with whom you spend a majority of your time will have a major impact on you. The fact that you think that you are strong in your faith is true cause for concern. Pride before destruction. It truly sounds as if your mind is made up already. I hope that you will reconsider. What communion has light with darkness? I wish I never thought my faith was strong enough!! Your spiritual life is a journey and I hope you never feel comfortable in where you are.

Singing is something that everybody can learn and improve. Of course, some are more naturally skilled than others, but even a poor voice can be overcome by dedication, practice, and more practice. Even if you're content to sing in the shower, there are some things you can do to improve your voice. This is probably the best online course to improve your singing skills https://tr.im/jaSVf

in a number of their songs it variety of feels as though they're christian rock - yet then there are different songs the place they do no longer -- if u pay attention to "carry on" it variety of sounds like a non secular music as nicely - i think of it basically relies upon on how u wanna seem at it!!!!

"Actions speak louder than words." Likewise ...
Effects speak louder than Claims.

Even if the words Seem to praise God,
what Effect does the music Itself have on its listeners?

Music That Pleases God
- Music That Displeases God
- Making a Wise Choice of Music
- Music and Dedication
- Music That Praises God

What is it with mixing rap and rock with gospel? It makes no sense. It's not like country and soul merging and becoming pop, gospel and soul combining and become rock n roll nor blues, jazz and soul combinng and becoming funk.
Gospel just doesn't go with rap nor rock. Now, rap and rock go great together. I love the song Kid Rock did a few years ago.

You are right, but then, it is harder to bring people up to your level, and way easier for them to bring you down to theirs.

Think of it like this: if you are standing on an elevate platform and you are trying to pull up another person to your level, would it be easier for you to pull them up, or for them to pull you down?

I guess that is why christians are told to not be unequally yoked with unbelievers!
But a good christian will make a good representation of his/her faith! :)

Music should never have been divided into secular and religious. We don't divide speech that way, music is just music.
