Your on the right track! When you use water from non-toilet sources it is called gray water and it is safe to use in gardens, you just need to re-due your plumbing. If your wanting to purify your own water source you would be best off incorporating a rain catch system that you could also tie in with a water reuse storage system (gray water). The bummer is you might need to check with local municipalities for legality and permits, or just don't tell them.

Back in the day we used to empty our wringer washer into the yard. If there is a lot of oil in the water, it may suffocate the roots. The lady who commented about the pH is probably right, except for the fussiest plants (if you are talking about an orchid collection, you may want to proceed with caution) and if there is phosphorus in any products that you used, it will improve the soil.

That is a great idea- Lots of people do that when we have a water ban in the summer here. It will have all kinds of added "minerals" that will help your plants too from any dirt or dead skin in the water. I have read that most soaps are so mild, that the ph will not harm plants.

This is fine. Also, you may be able to reuse water from washing machines, etc. (Friends of ours do this on their vegetable garden - the kids have the job of taking the water out and putting it on the plants - and the results are pretty impressive.)

Yes, you can water the plants with the used water.

Your plants will be fine. In fact, the phosphates in the soaps will be very good for the soil and help your plants as well as help control mites and insects.

No .. the soaps and detergent witll kill them. You would have to distill it or put it through expensive filtering.
