My two year old has starting sucking her thumb these last couple of months and I don't know what to do to stop her. Do you guys have any suggestions of what to do. Her poor little thumbs are blistering up!

You can't. I'm going through the saem thing right now. A littel girl I take care of has recently started sucking her thumb. because she see's her friend doing it all teh time. I have been telling ehr that she's a big girl and stuff like that. it helps some. I still have to remind her sometimes. Sometimes I have to push her hand away from her mouth. But there really isn't much you can do. I DO not recomend putting vinegar or anything else on the childs thumb especially if they are blistering up. Putting vinegar or anything else on blistering thumb will make it hurt 10 times worse. They will out grow it once they start school. Talk to her dr. if your that worried. Maybe he/she will have some ideas. I suggest you talk to your child. It sounds like sucking her thumb is a comfort object. try to find something else that she can use to comfort herself.

You need to put something bitter on her thumbs to discourage her from putting it in her mouth. I have heard that a little bit of vinegar is an awful taste but perfectly safe to use. Your pediatrician might be able to give some suggestions also. Good luck!
