Yes, of course they cry.
Tears don't run down their faces and they don't cry like humans cry..they make a sort of yoweling noise.

Hi~I saw a question like this some time ago, & someone said their cat DID cry. I've never seen it, but that doesn't mean they can't. The way she described it, it was credible. It IS curious!
ALERT ALERT
The really awful answer by a "DRAGON" has been cloning me for days. People who know me on this section know I wouldn't do this, but people who don't--well I'm trying to alert everyone. The answer is a VIOLATION in itself. You know you can report it & we'd all be very glad. Most of the worst have been removed by Yahoo but he seems fixated.
I hope you get some interesting responses. I'm interested, too.

Cats do produce tears, but they do not cry like humans. If your cats eyes are runny, take it to the vet to rule out infection.

Yes I have one and its not like there are tears streaming down his face but he will meow and whimper until you do something

I don't know about them having tears run down their face from being sad. But they do have emotions, and they can get sad.
