Do you want something he can keep or something to enjoy? When my Dad turned 60 I got him (and me) tickets to go to an F1 Grand Prix and he loved it. How about something like a hot air balloon ride or rally driving experience? Good luck!

You say he is young at heart - well why not take a trip for a weekend to Amsterdam - I am older and recently my son took me there. It was amazing - lots of places to see, fantastic scenery and so much interest. Plus food restaurants on every street from all around the world. It was very safe, lots of different culture and so laid back (not for the obvious reasons). I can assure you I would go back anyday and still enjoy it.

Find out what he likes to do, or enjoys watching on TV. What sports he likes or hobbys. When my husband was 49, I asked him if he would like to go to a Nascar race since he likes watching them on TV. The year he turned 50 I bought him and I a trip to the races in So Cal. He was really excited and surprised that I remembered (or maybe just paying attention) that he would like to go to a race someday.

When my parents turned 50 we had huge parties for them. My brothers came home and we invited some old friends and family. We did themes, my dad had a pirate party and my mom was western. it was so much fun. We did line dancing and had outfits that we dressed everybody up for silly pictures. We had slide shows of when they where younger from there wedding and when we where born. it was so much fun.

If he has any hobbies maybe you could add something to that , that he really needs. What sports is he interested in, maybe you could try and organise that he could meet one of his sports hero's or something. If he reads get him a yearly subscription of the mags he enjoys anything. Just as long as you give it with love and make him a fab meal.:))))

-Tickets to the theatre to see a musical or play?
-Tickets for a weekend away somewhere nice like Rome?
-Buy him an experience, such as hot air ballooning or helicopter rides. There is a website that deals specifically with unique experiences like this, here is the link:
