I find it weid too but these are people 's choices . I respect them . But I would not behave dogs as they are humans . This does not mean I would treat them badly but they are not humans so it is wrong to behave them as your father r uncle or any friend etc. I agreee with you . 1 star for your quest

Cartman, I think you are absolutely correct. And it is particularly confusing to children who can feel like their parents like the dog more than their own child. It is very important that people do not allow that to happen, as children in that situation can grow up to resent dogs.
As far as why some people do it. Well, maybe because it seems to be politically correct (PC) to show off pictures of their dogs, or talk baby talk to dogs etc., and get attention for it. But when humans brag about how cute their own human children are, other humans think that are bragging to much, or silly. It is a shame indeed, and something that is very dangerous and could over time create a very dangerous situation in our society. It isn't easy to balance a society where a generation of youngsters may have grown up feeling less important than the family dog.

It can be very confusing for dogs to be treated like humans mainly because we can be so inconsistent.
If your children try to sit on the sofa wearing muddy clothes or dirty trainers we can tell them off and make them see why it is wrong.
If a dog that is normally allowed on the furniture gets on the sofa with muddy paws it will probably be told off. This can only be confusing to the dog as it knows that it is OK to be on the sofa but that on some occasions we throw a wobbler!
The dog will have no idea why - it cannot associate muddy paws with being on the sofa.
If we treat dogs like dogs and not like children or mini-adults then they are likely to be much more confident and a lot less confused.
The solution to the 'muddy paws' problem is that you teach the dog that it can only get on the sofa if you tell it to (and everyone in the house cooperates). That way it won't jump on the sofa - muddy paws or not.

I think its less confusing than we think; I suspect that in many cases the pet actually has the upper hand as its reading the situation differently. It thinks of itself as the boss who can demand attention and food. (its probably right!)
It gets confusing for the pet where the owner is inconsistant; one day the pet is babied and the next the owner is impatient or ignores it.
Where a dog gets a predictable response from the owner in a given situation its less confusing.
People have trouble stepping out of their own world and into someone elses, its even harder when its another species.
We can see the dogs world from both our point of view and that of the dog; the dog can only see the situation from the point of view of a dog.
We are always the one that has the responsibility to make the adjustment.

Who is to say that one species is superior to the other? I think you are the one who is confused. Animals feel emotions just like we do. Did you fail 3rd grade science? Humans ARE animals. We are very different from other species, physically but who is to say that we are different emotionally and mentally? If all of the people in the world could be as sweet and kind as my dog & cat then the world would be a much better place.

Dogs are a mans best friend, Famous saying, because they are loyal, trustworthy they are there when you need them, cry when your gone, they know when your sad, they know when your angry, they will protect you, and most of all they will give you unconitional love and they will never turn there back on you.
Dogs have feelings like we do, not so much rabbits, cats, birds, and so on. Dogs seem to understand.
If you are a dog lover you would understand how much joy and love a dog and bring into your home, and the best thing to give back to your dog is to give them the best life and that is talking to them, playing with them, let them sleep in your bed and so on.
Dogs don't get confused, they dont compare themselves to humans, they know who's boss and who are there owners. Its the humans that treat there dogs like children which i think is great. :o)

I was out walking my dog one day and a person tried to mug me.
And the only protection I had was my pitbull Zeus.Well need to say the attacker fled after a couple of good gnaws on his body.So moral of the story is I treat my dog like a human because his love is eternal,he protected me when others would have run.I spoil him like a child. Why? Because I might not have been around to spoil anyone else without him.

people tend to baby things,it is in our nature,it is difficult to not treat an animal like a little person, but i do know where you are coming from,i have a little peke mix who was so spoiled rotten and treated so much like a little princess by her previous owner she has trouble getting along with the other pets and people, she is insanely jealous of all other animals and people near the lap she chooses to sit on and she can be snappy if she doesn't get what she wants,i get so frustrated at her previous owner on a daily basis these people totally ruined this little dog, instead of proper socialization with people other dogs and pets they treated her like a little child and this has not come out in her favor, she is lucky she found me if she were in a shelter she would probably be put down due to her moodiness

Because the dogs respond positively to the way they're treated? Dogs are gregarious pack animals, they need company and interaction.
Surely it's better to care for the dog properly than treat it like dirt?

Because we love them and treat them with respect. Most dogs are very needy and want as much love and attention as they can get. I really don't think this would confuse
them.
