Honestly (in my own opinion, of course), i think it truly sucks a$$, and is just a waste of space on any hard drive. The damn thing can't run Doom 3, might as well forget about it running any current Grand Theft Auto game (don't tell me about the compatibility mode - i already TRIED that). Overall, it seems to use up a load of RAM.
One more thing - is it me, or does Vista seem to have some VERY annoying security?

Your thoughts, please, and make them meaningful.

I agree with you. I have a system with 2GB of ram and performance STILL suffers. I've also tried GTA:SA and the results weren't pretty as you've noticed.

In addition to this, did you know that Vista takes up a MINIMUM of 15GB HD space?

Don't get me started on the security pop-ups! I can see why they may have wanted to add such a feature, but the results as implemented by Microsoft are extremely annoying.

Then there's the default behaviour on laptops of automatically connecting to any unsecured wireless networks found in range. This is both a potential security risk as well as something that will generate a lot of needless wireless traffic since 90% of users won't bother to change the default behaviour.

Linux magazine pointed out Vista is a win/win situation (no pun intended). The hardware makers want the sales, so they'll push it. Media content owners want Digital Rights security and they'll push it. Seems like everybody but the user benefits. Don't expect any changes from Microsoft until 2010, when Bill steps down and Melinda starts handing out the Foundation funds to the 3rd world. Bill's stock options alone will flood Wall Street and the vast new number of stockholders will prevent Vista from advancing technologically. Vista will become a product that needs to make dividends for the stockholders.

Linux is faster. Much faster, rock solid and getting better.

Vista remains has some compatibility subject concerns with courses. yet Vista became additionally like XP became while it first got here out. you in simple terms ought to attend until the bugs are hammered out, yet until that occurs Vista is somewhat quirky. That being stated i'm employing Vista and that i haven't encountered something it truly is incredibly a project. you ought to ought to alter some settings and any software will run. i would not eliminate Vista it ought to reason you grief somewhat while you're no longer tech savvy. you're able to finally end up able the place you could no longer discover the final drivers to get the pc to paintings good on XP. additionally each and all the preloaded application on your pc would be long gone in case you do not have the unique discs (you ought to truly make beneficial it comes with the application discs). no longer in basic terms that yet you paid for vista why waste your money? And as for video games no longer working that may not be real while you're having hardship working a game it probable in simple terms means you ought to exchange some compatibility settings. such somewhat some people are so speedy to pass judgment.

I bought my laptop with vista home premium last week....Truly, it does use up tons of RAM space and processing space(I have two 1 gb 733mhz ddr2 ram and dual-core 2.0ghz processor installed and it works fine...but if i try vista on my old computer, it'll surely go bang)

The silly program running prevention also ticks me off...(LAGS EVERYTHING UP.(When i run a program, the screen will go dim and after a while it'll ask if ill run this program AGAIN))

The bottom line is...the bad graphic drivers!I have a ati radeon 256mb graphic card installed and when i play games...the screen keeps flickering after 4-5 minutes...this improved when i installed the newer driver ,but it still flicker in random intervals.

There was an article on slashdot the other day claiming that 4GB of RAM was Vista's "sweet spot".
