You can actually develop allergies as you get older ... and I'm guessing that you are in your late forties or early fifties, and you find this new 'aspect' of yourself extremely annoying, at best. I can't explain how you can 'stop' getting these allergies, and frankly I'd like to know of a good 'medical reason' why we develop allergies when we get older, because I've got them too. I'm basically allergic to my bedroom ... and I still have to go into it to sleep at night, and no amount of 'moving stuff in or out' has made my life any easier. It might be 'built up development' of histamines in our system over the years ... but I asked my doctor (who is older than I am, by about 6 years) and he says he can't figure it out either, but also wishes it would 'go away' and leave us 'aging folks' alone. My advice to you is to get yourself tested by a 'good allergist' to see if there isn't something else that you are allergic to that could be causing this 'rash, red blotches, and throat swelling' you're having ... but be 'very careful' about the results you get back, because sometimes they 'mess up' and give you the wrong results. Good luck.

That's a good question.. I have never been allergic to cats, but a few years back I was in a person's house and I started having all the signs of someone allergic to cats.. Most peculiar...

a person can get allergic reactions to anything at any age. If this happens, take liquid Benadryl. It might make you drowsy, but will work. If the symptoms do not subside, contact your MD.
