I was told that the British Psychiatric establishment classified the Homosexuality as 'mental disorder' but it has been removed from the list of mental sickness because of the pressure from the lobby.
If homosexuality is not a type of mental disoder, is there any proof?
and if it is, what are the methods available to cure it?

No. There are no cures. You can stop acting homosexual, but if you were born gay, you will remain gay, period. I'm including a link to the American Psychology Association's page where they discuss the matter.

It is not any type of a mental disorder and it never has been.
Tourette Syndrome used to be though of as a mental disorder, and it never has been.
Hysteria used to be attributed to the uterus. Never mind the fact that men can also be hysterical. But hysteria used to be attributed to the uterus.
We've learned better. That's why these things are no longer listed the way that they used to be listed.
But we've also learned that homosexuality is not an illness of any type. It's not an illness and there is no need to even think in terms of a "cure". For anyone to say otherwise is simply another form of racism. But since you're asking a question, as a way to understand, I'm not applying that to you.

Homosexuality was considered a mental disorder by the American Psychiatric Association but it was removed sometime in the earlly 1970s.
Homosexuals were thought to have "weak character", to be "untrustworthy" and they were also thought to be child molesters. There was enough evidence to indicate that none of these ideas were factual so it was removed.
However, "Gender Identity Disorder" and "Transvestic Fetishism" are still included as mental disorders in the DSM-IV. "Ego Dystonic Homosexuality" is still used as a disorder when someone has homosexual feelings and feels guilty or "conflicted" about it. Sometimes cultural and political factors influence ideas about mental health--it actually makes sense because mental health or illness are often determined by how an individual fits in with his or her culture.

I personally think its rubbish, saying that homosexuality is a chemical imbalance in the brain. Its just another reason thrown out there by organized religion to brainwash people into discriminating against gays (or just about anyone who doesn't follow God to a tee), pretty much saying they're "mentally ill".
And why would you want to cure something that makes you who you are anyway?
Overall, I don't think there will be any defintive proof of exactly what determines homosexuality. It's all in the individual, and how they feel.

No it's not a mental disorder. It's somewhat of a physiological abnormality in bigendered species, but not all that much, and certainly not a mental disorder. It can be cured by having a sex change operation and taking hormones, so that the person is then attracted to the "opposite" sex.
And there's lots of proof, most of it has been repressed and marginalized by more sexist and homophobic societies and religious authorities but this has not always been the case. Bisexuality was the norm in ancient Greece and Rome. Male homosexual pedophilia is exalted as one of life's greater pleasures throughout ancient Persian and middle eastern literature, societies which ironically are now perhaps the most homophobic in the world. Transexuals and exclusively homosexual persons used to be known as eunuchs, but the definition of that word has evolved to almost exclusively refer to the castrated variety.

Some theories actually claim that its a chemical imbalance in the uterus that may cause homosexuality.
Nothing is really certain at this point, however, it is not a mental disorder. A mental disorder is simply a state of the mind that is qualified as negative. Homosexuality is not a debilitating condition.

It is a mental difference, possibly also a physical difference to heterosexuality, but I wouldn't call it a disorder.
A disorder implies loss of certain functions, homosexuality is a loss of nothing. The only thing that makes a gay person any different from a straight person is the fact that they are attracted to members of their own sex as opposed to members of the opposite sex. To consider this a disorder is outright bigotry!

there is no reliable way to cure homosexuality because there is nothing sick or wrong with being gay anymore than being left handed is a disorder, imbalance, or morally wrong. 10% of the population is gay. 10%!! That's a pretty big chunk. I believe that time and energy would be better spent learning to accept homosexuality than trying to stamp it out.

Preference of the same sex is no more a disorder than preferring the color pink over blue is a disorder. It's a personality thing that people are born with.

Homosexuality is not a disorder, it occurs naturally.
Fundamental Christianity, however, is a mental disorder. It does not occur naturally, but through systematic brainwashing.
I would much prefer to have a homosexual child than to have a child who got "saved".
