I have suffered from it for the last 3 years or so, it started with half of my tache going and then I developed patches on my arms, lets and chest.
The hair that grew back was very weak and white. Eventually most of the patches regrew as normal but a couple of months ago I developed some more patches. I'm told it's stress!
I asked the doctor about this a few weeks ago, he said he could give me some cream to rub on the affected areas but it can take up to 6months for the hair to grow normally. However, he said that in that time the hair could have grown back anyway so I went without. I'm bald on top anyway and just have my hair that's left up there shaved. I'm more concerned should my eyebrows and lashes fall out.
I get people telling me to relax but seeing the patches makes me stress out even more.
Anwyay, try asking your doctor about this steriod cream that you can use, may be worth a try, I didn't go for it but at a young age I'd recommend it.

I have heard that this is a very good treatment for the treatment of alopecia, however I donot know wether this would still apply for children. Take a strong multi-vitamin along with an extra 2 grams of vitamin C & 2 grams of zinc (there'll be zinc in the multi-vitamin but take the extra dose as directed on the bottle until hair begins to grow normally.
Alsp check out this site, it's a gem of a site regarding natural remedies, diet, etc. on a wide range of ailemnts. Please type in the relvant words in search.

Call your local colledge Hairdressing Trycology department and book an appointment with them. They will give your son very good treatment which is also free. There is a thing called high frequency treatment he can recieve. It is like a Wide glass fork which is ran through your hair with little currents of electricity which does not hurt. This encourages the hair folicles to become alive again quicker and promote growth. They will also give you really good advice and other treatments

A friend of mine had it.He used to shave his head down to the wood with a bic razor every day.
His mates may be a little shocked at first but they would get used to it,it is less embarrassing than bald patches. His hair will soon be back to normal

Check out homeopathic, ayurvedic, alopathic meds, alternative meds. It takes time for them to work, but they really do work.
