I, along with some of my co-workers, are trying to lose weight and I was wanting to do a sort of "biggest loser" at work. but some of us are bigger and some of us are smaller, so i was wondering how the "winner" should be decided and how to keep motivated. Thanks!

I'm in the middle of an "exercise challenge" at work right now.

Here is how it works:

Every day you exercise for thirty minutes, you get a point.

If you work out twice in a day, you get a chance to "attack" someone and take away a point from them. You do this by flipping a coin, and if you call it right, you choose someone who loses a point.

We have about twenty people doing it, and it costs everyone $20 to join.

The challenge lasts two months, and the person with the most points at the end wins almost all of the money - nearly $400 - so there's a pretty good financial incentive. There are also smaller mini prizes, so at least 3 or 4 people will win some sort of prize.

The mini prizes help keep people motivated, because they can still win money even if they're not the grand prize winner.

It's alot of fun, and provides good incentive to work out.

I don't think I like the idea of taking points though...people get overly competitive, and form alliances. Takes the fun away.

I do like that it promotes exercise every day - any kind of exercise. So it's easy for people to take part in it. If it was a weight loss competition, some people might get discouraged if they weren't losing weight, and then give up. Also, people may not like the idea of posting their weight for everyone.

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.

I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.

It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.

go by percentages.

If one lady is 100lbs and she loses 10, that's a 10% weight loss.

If another lady weighs 200lbs and she loses 10lbs, that's a 5% weight loss.

We had one and the winner was the one who lost the biggest percentage. But remember, anyone who loses weight is a winner in thier own right.
