How do you feel having 2nd Lt Wales serving with you on the ground in Iraq?

We know he has been well trained, and has the capabilities to do the job, however, would you feel secure going out on the streets in a patrol with him?

I KNEW I was right re rank !

His rank of Cornet is used by a small number of cavalry units including the Blues and Royals and is the equivalent of the more usual rank of 2nd Lieutenant.

You've answered your own question. He is a well trained and capable officer. Those are the 1st steps in becoming an outstanding soldier. Yes, I would feel secure on patrol with him.

My opinion...

The kid was a hellion child by media reports. He's been mischevious from day one.

I like that in a LT. I would go on patrol with him ANY DAY!

"He will serve in an armoured reconnaissance unit and train to become a troop commander, in charge of 11 men and four light tanks. "

Yeah, I'd feel pretty secure doing recon in an armored tank.

Brand new LT? He's still a soldier. Hope he doesn't expect someone to carry his bags for him.

I'm not a Brit, but I would be happy to serve with him. I say good on him. I would not want to serve with George Dubbyas twins though. OOPs that would never happen.
