My daughter is 5 and has been running fever off and on for about 3 days. She says her throat hurts "some" but not bad. I have looked in her throat and see no signs of infection or even redness. One of her classmates has been diagnosed with the flu this week. I just wonder if she is trying to get it and her body is trying to fight it off. I am taking her to the dr. today, Just worried right now...does anyone have any soothing answers for a worried mother?

Get his little butt back to the doctor. A fever of 103.5 for a 5 year old is not good. An older person is able to handle it better. High fever in children can cause seizures. Put some ice packs with towels on them (ice in zip lock bag or something) under his arms and bring the fever down. His ear infection may be a stubborn variety, or it could be something else.

ON and off fever without any soreness of the throat.Best is to take her to a doctor. You don't need to panice. She must be having a mild attack of the virus.Encourage her to do warm saline gargles, give her some vitamin c chewable tablets and have her drink warm soups with some pepper added to them.
Complete bed rest will do her a world of good too.And also avoid all foods that fall in the cold category-ice cream, cold drinks, chilled water etc.

if she has been exposed to someone with the flu, more than likely she may be experiencing the beginning symptoms of the flu. since the flu is a virul infection, there is really nothing that can be done about it, except let it run its course. if your daughters fever gets to be over 105, take her to the emergency room, as she may be experiencing complication. just give her children's tylenol and it will prbably break her fever.

It may be the flu but is more likely strep. Many times you can't see the inflammation. The flu would really make her lethargic.
Sometimes the strep is better since they can give her antibotics and it will go away. I am sure motrin will help her.

Hope all gets well

Take your child to the doctor ...they can find the cause for her fever ..you cannot always see a health problem by looking at your child's throat your NOT a doctor !!

Don't worry, Relax. You should have taken her to the doctor earlier, but nevermind the doctor will get her healthy soon enough.
