Up till two nights ago I was drinking alcohol before bedtime cause I found it helped me sleep. As I subsequently felt like crap next morning I have decided to stop. For the past two nights though I can't sleep and am awake for a long time before drifting off. Subsequently I am very tired now in the morning.

Try letting your mind settle, open a window slightly to get some fresh air as too warm a bedroom can cause you to be restless.
Try a few drops of lavender on your pillow to aid sleep.
A cup of hot chocolate or cocoa before bed.
Try calms from the chemist, stop worrying.
If all else fails ask Dr for some sleeping pills

Try an over the counter sleeping pill. You may need to go to your dr and get a stronger sleeping pill. Something that helps me sleep is benadryl.
