From your experience, when is your hangover easier to handle - is it relative to the type of drink? Or just the amount?

It's relative to a whole bunch of variables: amount you drink, pace of drinking, whether you've eaten beforehand or not (particularly how much protein you've eaten), length of time slept afterwards, how drunk you are when you go to sleep (if you sober up a bit before going to bed, the hangover is less intense) etc.

But the most important factor is how much water you've drunk before, during and after a boozing session. A hangover is primarily dehydration, so the more water, the better.

As far as which drink, it'd have to be a clear spirit, such as vodka or gin, without a mixer, or with a sugar-free mixer. I'd put my money on Gin and Tonic. Sticking to one type of alcohol is a sure fire way to limit the hangover, because combining different types of alcohol makes for a bad hangover. Which is why cocktail parties are a recipe for a sore head!

Both. You should never mix drinks ie wines and spirits.
White wines or white spirits least likely to cause a hangover - but do not drink them together.
Drink on a full stomach only.
Alternate soft with alcoholic drinks.

I've never had a hangover drinking vodka (& I mean a lot). Clear alcoholic drinks are the best for avoiding a hangover as they contain fewer chemicals. Also drink a glass of water in between your alcoholic drinks if you can.

you are gonna have to drink a lot of water to prevent the dehydration, which is the hangover. So drink lots of water inbetween those shots. You will be pissing up a storm, but thats the price you pay. Also, pop 4 advil before passing out or falling asleep. that helps too

type of drink has everything to do with it... don't mix your drinks, and be fussy about what you drink...

I refuse to drink lager brewed in this country - it's full of chemicals that ruin the flavour and make you aggressive - and give you a stinking hangover in the morning

Get yourself down to wetherspoons, or bottle stop, try some of the polish lagers (okocim, zywiec, tyskie etc...) these are brewed under 600 year old purity laws, no chemicals, only the best ingredients, and they're quite strong too... because they have no additives, when you get drunk, you get giggly drunk, so you don't argue or fight, the beer tastes a WHOLE LOT NICER, and best of all, your hangover the next morning is cleared up by a simple glass of water (bottled preferably)

If you drink alcohol, do so in moderation. This means an average of one to two drinks per day for men and one drink per day for women. (A drink is one 12 oz. beer, 4 oz. of wine, 1.5 oz. of 80-proof spirits, or 1 oz. of 100-proof spirits.) Drinking more alcohol increases such dangers as alcoholism, high blood pressure, obesity, stroke, breast cancer, suicide and accidents. Also, it's not possible to predict in which people alcoholism will become a problem. Given these and other risks, the American Heart Association cautions people NOT to start drinking ... if they do not already drink alcohol. Consult your doctor on the benefits and risks of consuming alcohol in moderation.

Long cocktails don't give me a hangover. May be because of all the juice in them. You have to be careful though, because you can't tast the alcohol in them you can drink to many and they creep upon you and suddenly you hammered out of your skull. Also make sure you eat pleanty before you go out and then drink somthing before you go to bed

try bombay sapphire london gin. Its blue in colour. I would normally have it with tonic water obviously..Out of all the spirits, this has not given me any hangover the next day. Not even after finishing 3/4 of the bottle.

The least alcoholic drink, so low alcohol beer. Plus don't mix your drinks, stick to one type. Funnily enough I can drink champagne till the cows come home and not get a headache. Maybe the bubbles fill me up and I drink less ? It also comes in a smaller capacity glass, that helps too.

Drinks with fewer flaournoids will give less of a hangover so things like vodka and aquavit. Avoid whisky, brandy, rum etc. But too much of anything will give you a stinker
