I want to get one for my Mum but I have realised they are mains-powered, not battery. Do they switch off after so long? Do they use much electricity (what if you switch it off but leave it on at the wall power-point?).

I think they are a nice touch to a room but if they use too much electricity I'm not bothered. Any help appreciated..

Why dont you wait until the technology gets better...I saw one yesterday and the colors are not right, too small in size and nowhere to hide the powercord.......(Use the screensaver on your pc with...my pictures folder)... It is larger, better color and no extra cords to be seen).....good luck

No, the ones we sell at Jessops stay on as long as they are hooked to the mains.. but no, I do think they are a gimmick, really.. why not just hook the camera to the TV?

I was told they use about as much electrcity as a lightbulb. granted this is info from a capitalist corporation, and I havent seen how one would actually affect an electricity bill... but thats the info I have.
