Fluffy White Icing

1/2 cup butter
1 cup shortening
2 cups granulated sugar
6 tsp. flour
2 tsp. vanilla
1 cup warm milk

Beat all ingredients together with electric mixer on medium speed until smooth and fluffy....About 15 minutes...The longer you beat it, the fluffier it gets...

A very sweet one
Buttercream Icing

1/2 cup solid vegetable shortening
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 tsp. vanilla extract
4 cups sifted confectioners sugar
2 Tbls. milk

Cream butter and shortening with electric mixer. Add vanilla. Gradually add sugar, one cup at a time, beating well on medium speed. Scrape sides and bottom of bowl often. When all sugar has been mixed in, icing will appear dry. Add milk and beat at medium speed until light and fluffy. Makes 3 cups.

Soft Butter Icing is the best

Whip together 2 cups soft icing sugar
5tablespoons soft butter
Until light in colour and fluffy.
If you want to make chocolate add cocoa or whatever flavouring ( If liquid don't add too much) then whip again to mix and ice away!!!

My favorites are buttercream icing.

Buttercream

1 cup sugar
5 tablespoons water
6 slightly beaten egg yolks
2 tablespoons vanilla
1-1/2 cups (3 sticks) unsalted butter, softened

In a saucepan, combine sugar and water. Bring to boiling. Remove from heat.

Gradually stir bout half of sugar mixture into egg yolks. Return all of yolk mixture to saucepan. Bring to gentle boil; reduce heat. Cook and stir 2 minutes. Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla. Cool to room temperature.

Beat butter with electric mixer on high speed until fluffy. Add sugar-egg mixture, beating until combined. If necessary, chill frosting until it reaches spreading consistency.

For dark chocolate buttercream, stir 4 ounces melted semisweet or bittersweet chocolate into hot sugar water.

White chocolate buttercream

6 ounces white baking chocolate with cocoa butter
½ cup butter, softened
2 teaspoons vanilla
6 cups powdered sugar
1/3 cup milk

In a small saucepan, melt white baking chocolate over low heat, stirring frequently; cool. In a large mixing bowl, beat butter and vanilla with an electric mixer on medium speed for 30 seconds. Gradually beat in 3 cups powdered sugar. Add milk. Gradually beat in an additional 3 cups powdered sugar. Beat in melted white chocolate until well combined. If needed, beat in 1 to 2 tablespoons additional milk to make a frosting of spreading consistency. Spread on cake immediately
