Did you have a body fat test then? I'm quite surprised it's that high, I would have guessed around 28% based on rough estimates of an average female your height and weight.

Are you quite small framed, do you exercise regularly? Have you lost muscle due to crash diets or anything like that? There are all kinds of reasons why your body fat would be too high, even though you are not technically overweight. More than anything, it means you have too little lean body mass.

I would ask for a second opinion though, because if it's innacurate, you don't want to be loosing weight unnecssarily.

If you really do have 36% body fat, you are not quite obese yet, but it's considered to be 'overfat'. I've listed body fat percentages for females below.

I am 5ft 4 and 8st 7 age 27, I was told that if I was higher than 9st 7 I would be overweight slightly,
You are certainly not obese though not by a long shot no wonder young girls are going anorexic if these machines are saying this, I dont judge my self by my weight I judge myself by how my body looks,
If you are happy with the way your body looks then you should do the same, everybody is different, big frames small frames, a computer cannot judge that.

I don't understand what you are trying to say...but 36% body fat is known to be considered obese.

It's the medical definition of obese - your body fat index is really high - obese.

Why worry if you think you are healthy ?

Try doing a google search for Body Mass Index - you'll find lots of sites where you can input your height, weight, age and sex and get a more detailed overview.

dnt use them things thy are designed for tht, i bet its right next to th slim fast stuff and all th other 'weight loss' things, its a marketing ploy hun,
and do not worry about bmi, if bmi was correct for everybody then certain bodybuilders like ronnie coleman (mr olympia for last 6years) would be mobidly obese, as he is normally 4%fat i doubt he is obese.
dont worry bout it hun
