I have a problem with this in two ways.
1. Freedom isn't free. There are always people waiting in the wings to take away your freedom. Why shouldn't JW shoulder their fair share of the burden?
2. Jesus said Render onto God that which is God's and render onto Caesar that which is Caesar's indicating the people should uphold the government of their country and sometimes that includes military service.

The Lord has commanded his people many times to go to war against those who would take seek to take away family, life, liberty, and property. When another nation/people come against you for these purposes, sometimes war is necessary and unavoidable. People should contribute their fair share in defense of a nation. Some people want liberty but don't want to pay the costs associated with preserving it.

Take away their freedom to do what? No one can stop you from practicing your religion, not matter what they do. The Nazis learned the the hard way. And which military should they join? They are in every country, and since a sign of the blessing of the holy spirit is agreement among Christians in all things, they can join one military who is opposing another military in another country. Or, do you believe it is okay to kill the Christian who believes God is blessing their country and is trying to kill you?
On a History Channel program, a story was featured where an Army Sharp Shooter, who was Mormon, had to kill a German solder who it turned out to be the son of a German family of Mormons, with whom the sharp shooter had lived with while on Missionary work, prior to the conflict.
Jehovah's Witnesses fight every day in a type of military. They fight for God and Christ. They fight for you and your family to have a chance for everlasting life on Earth. An Earth free of conflict.
Remember also, whereas they don't support the military, they also don't oppose it. Many a good Christian would spit on Vietnam Veterans as they returned home, but not JWs.

Because they don't believe anything can be won or earnt in a war and they don't want to kill or hurt people trying to prove it. Look at this war in Iraq, I want nothing to do with it because it seems pointless and just a load of little boys that can't share their toys.
